If you want to launch a new service or product with a letter system there is no better way to learn than from a real world small business that actually did it.

In this guide you will get a detailed close up look at a launch we did for a new airbrush tanning service in our salon. In addition you’ll get a second announcement letter example that you can model for the insurance industry.

If you are thinking, ‘These are not my industries’, you are missing the boat. Any letter or system can be modeled in another industry and work just as well or even better.

As a matter of fact I modeled the letter and postcard in this example from a small business that sells designer suits to men.

Below is a sales letter we used to announce our new Mystic Tan booth (we followed up with a postcard which is included after the sales letter). This was a very successful promotion because it drove new and old customers back to the salon, putting several thousand dollars in our pocket in the front end and generating a constant flow of repeat business and referrals for years.

The key to the success of this new service announcement was to follow up with a postcard and a phone call (use a third postcard or letter if you don’t want to use the phone).

Follow up is very important when you are doing a promotion because often times people forget about you within minutes and they need to be reminded of your new product or service.

This works exceptionally well when you have an expiration date (this is essential on almost all promotions).

By the way, we also had our staff politely follow up on the phone.

You can model this for any service you have in your salon or small business. You can even do this if you have had a service or product that is not getting very much attention as you were expecting. Especially if it is buried in the back of your business.

Seasonal Email Letter Campaigns For Retail Marketing!

Let’s discus how to use seasonal email letter campaigns to build demand for your retail sale or event.

A sequence of email marketing letters can work like gang busters. But they will work even better if you combine them with direct mail and text message marketing.

What we did successfully in our business for years was send out at least one postcard or a sales letter  (usually a sequence of two and three) to our clients informing them of a sale we were having. Every sales was themed around a season, holiday, or an event.

We sent out a sequence of 4 email marketing letters in addition to a postcard or direct mail sales letter. Everything was timed to hit all of our customers starting two or three weeks out. We sent up to five emails which where spread anywhere from 3-7 days apart.  The final email was always sent on the day of the sale or event.

We also included a text message marketing sequence as well. This way we hit every customer or client on our list up to three different ways at different times and days. This is important because you never know which type of contact is the one that is going to drive your customers to your sale.

Salon Thank You Letter Examples!

Below are two of several salon thank you letters we used in our salon and spa which we owned for 10 years.

We sent thank you letters within 24 hours of a client buying a service from us, and we sent a specific letter associated with the service that was purchased. For example if a new client bought a body wrap package we had a thank you letter just for that service, or if they bought a Mystic Tan sunless tanning package we had a Mystic tan thank you letter, etc. etc.

Each thank you letter has a purpose:

1. To show how appreciative we are for the clients business.
2. To build a stronger relationship (every contact is important).
3. To upsell.

Formatting: Keep in mind that we had the letters formatted with a picture to the left of the headline and under each picture there was a caption. We also separated sentences, used bolding when appropriate to keep ‘skimmers’ interested and often used sub-headlines as well (see the example at the very bottom of this page).

Find A Business For Sale Using A Simple Letter!

12 years ago my wife wanted to buy a business. She was working for a massive telecommunications company at the time and she was burned out from the constant salary cuts and long hours.
